The Fire Department onsite inspection will follow these guidelines:

  1. Trained and insured service technicians with field-testing and calibration equipment.
  2. Visual inspection and cleaning of all portable medical oxygen/air regulators.
  3. Pressure regulation and flow testing of all portable medical oxygen/air regulators.
  4. Liter flow testing of all portable medical oxygen/air regulators.
  5. Leak testing of all portable medical oxygen/air regulators.
  6. Replacement of approved CGA washer for all medical oxygen/air regulators.
  7. Gauge calibration testing of all portable medical oxygen/air regulators.
  8. Testing of all on-board medical oxygen/air systems and quick connections.
  9. Testing of emergency suction device or on-board aspiration system.
  10. Final physical inspection and repair of any approved repairs.

A documentation binder and and disc with all information will be printed and delivered after the service has been completed.

Since 2004, Independent Medical has worked with several Fire Departments to develope an annual inspection protocol for medical oxygen and medical air systems used in there departments.

As a result, we have learned a couple key things:

1. The turnover rate of personel involved with maintaining this type equipment is so high that often the equipment goes without maintenance.

2. Lack of maintenance leads to broken equipment, and, or,  a shorter then expected life span.

3. There is little to no documentation of any maintenance done, or written procedures for annual inspection.

For just these reasons alone, this service is worth looking at. It is affordable and provides set procedures and documentation annually of all your equipment.
